Alphabet Challenge: 26 Days of Hand Lettered ABC’s

Like everything else, handwriting gets better with practice. That’s why I’ll be hosting an alphabet lettering challenge on Instagram and Facebook.

Join in on the fun and follow me as I post a new letter of the alphabet each day. The goal is to hand draw each letter in a variety of styles and mediums. I’ll tag each photo on social media with #letteringchallenge.

So if you’ve been dreaming of dreamy writing, this is something you can easily do with me! Just draw, snap a picture and post it using the hashtag. Just don’t forget to tag me @RaleighCalligraphy so I can see comment and share some of your best work on my page.

All skill levels are welcome, because the more the merrier. {smile}

The #letteringchallenge is starting August 1st. Get ready to share your ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYandZ’s! Yep. That about sums it up. {wink}

I’ll be posting updates here on the blog as well as a recap post at the end of the challenge.

If we’re not already besties on social media, you can follow me here: Instagram Facebook Pinterest

So go pull out a fresh notebook and some writing supplies and I’ll see you on Monday. Have an awesome weekend!

Home Studio Tour

Come on in and let me show you around! Our little home sits on the Raleigh/Cary boarder in the central part of North Carolina. For those of you who’ve never been to the area, it’s a BEAUtiful place with sun-shiny weather most of the year. I’ve traveled a bit and lived in a handful of different places, but honestly? I’m smitten with the Carolinas.

Welcome to my home studio! You may notice my studio space is about as modest as can be, as in it’s also know throughout the day as my kitchen table. Most of the day my supplies are tucked “neatly” away in a corner cabinet. But once my little munchkin falls asleep, that table transforms into my creative space. Before long there are papers and nibs and pressed petals all over that table and I become completely enthralled in my process. Oh yes, even though it’s a large table, my work has been know to mysteriously spread out across the floor from time to time. {smile}

Kitchen Table

I don’t know about you, but once I start a creative project, I have a hard time turning off my brain and putting down the pen (or paintbrush or whatever crazy thing is actually in my hand when I realize it’s 1 o’clock in the morning!). Has that ever happened to you? Thought so… you seem like the creative type. I suppose there really is a fine line between passion and obsession. {sigh}

For me that passion is writing. I write stories for fun and I’m also a calligrapher. I run a sweet little business that allows me to channel some of my creative chaos for good. {wink} I create primarily paper products and work with brides to hand letter items for their weddings. This week I’m working on my line of pressed petal flowers and the launching of this blog. I am so excited about the new bouquets that are finally pressed and ready to go! Here are the note cards I made using light pink rose petals and cotton linen paper. One of the best things about using real flowers is that every card turns out unique. I recently started using a heavy weight cotton linen paper for both the cards and the envelopes and… well, I’m in love. What do you think?

It’s important for me to create. every. single. day. That’s one of my objectives I set from the time I wake, knowing of course that it won’t be attempted until night or naptime. But that’s ok. And sure enough, there are days too jam packed of must-do’s that it’s impossible to squeeze in any extra time. And that’s ok, too. I’ll set out again tomorrow with the same objectives and little by little I’ll finish a project… in theory {smile}

Thanks for taking the time to get to know more about me and the space I create in. I’d love to learn more about you, too! In the comments feel free to say “hey there!” and share where your creative space is. After that, I hope you’ll stay awhile and look around! Be Inspired – With this Quote about Confidence

Live Life Out Loud….

Sometimes it’s hard to muster up the confidence you need to get through some of life’s big moments. I get that. In fact, I think that’s normal. {smile} But to me, this quote about living life out loud is more about our daily lives. How we act today, tomorrow and the next day. Personally, I think confidence is one of the most attractive attributes you could exude. Be confident in who you are. Step out of your comfort closet and show the world the real you. And when possible, avoid merely walking the path you’ve chosen… STRUT it. {wink}

I’m a bit of a history buff especially when it comes to American history. So I’ll leave you with a few words of wisdom from Jefferson. You may already know that Thomas Jefferson was a confident man and he expected the people around him to be confident, too. Anyway, he once said, “Do you want to know who you are? Don’t ask. Act! Action will delineate and define you.” I like this quote. I get fired up every time I hear it. How about you? Are you getting fired up picturing Jefferson shouting at you to act while passionately motioning with his arms? {smile}

Hello world!

Welcome to my Brand. New. Blog. about life, running a creative business and the many things that inspire me! I am so excited you’re here! My name is Tiffany Anne and I should start by saying, I love all things creative. Painting, drawing, writing, crafting; trying something new and creative is so exciting to me, even though it usually means making a huge mess that looks like an art tornado hit. Devastating. Yet so rewarding.

Trying my hand at calligraphy had always been on my creative bucket list, and two years ago I pick up a nib pen. In 2014, my husband and I welcomed our first baby into the world and I left my job to stay at home. Since I had some time to spare (naptime to be precise) I used my calligraphy skills to help out with a wedding. Then I did another wedding, and eventually referral requests started rolling in. My creative hobby unexpectedly turned into a little business and Raleigh Calligraphy & Design (RC&D) was born.

I am thrilled to say my business is gaining momentum and I am (finally) at the point where I can Blog! Navigating to this point has been a challenge and I’m still working out the kinks. Thanks for your patience! This blog will showcase all things inspirational, from the colorful finds in downtown to uplifting quotes in my hand lettering just for the sake of brightening your day. Ultimately, you’ll be entertained with this lifestyle blog about me, a woman who’s trying to run a creative business and a chaotic household without loosing her sense of self. So grab your mug, pull up a chair and let’s inspire each other.
FYI, this intro post will be set as my personal ABOUT page… just wanted to spare you from reading it twice. {wink}
