Running a Creative Business During Nap Time

By now, you probably know I run a handmade business from home. And I love it. It allows me to stay home with my boss… ahem I mean toddler {wink}.

To be honest, it can be tricky to prioritize my limited work hours, aka nap time. But knowing I have just 2 hours to run my business, it forces me to focus and work efficiently for 2… solid… hours. I use a checklist system to help me stay on track. Doing what you might ask? Well, everything from promoting on social media to responding to my awesome bridal clients, and from hand lettering and then packaging orders to writing this blog for my incredible readers. {yep, that’s you}

Yes, the bulk of my business ‘Runs on Nap Time’… and coffee, lots of coffee. {smile} Now you may be thinking running a business and raising a family isn’t as much fun as you’d thought. Well, although it’s not easy, it is completely worth it. Because once the boss-man wakes up, we’re headed right to the park for some fun in the sun. There might even be ice cream involved. And I love being able to be here for all the little moments.

  1. I congratulate you on the beginning of your creative businesses. This is very interesting, although it is difficult sometimes. However, this has many advantages. I hope you will have success in your business.

    1. Oh thank you Viktoryia. And you’re right, the advantages outweigh the disadvantages when it comes to working from home doing what you love!

  2. I like your use of checklists. When I was still working full-time and running my Etsy shop, I had to do the same thing. Time was very limited, so I had to be the most efficient I could be.
    I’m jealous of your play time in the park and ice cream :)

    1. Checklists are my go-to when it comes to staying organized. I think trying to spend more of our ‘work hours’ doing those productive tasks is a good habit all around. That way there is enough time to work that 9-5, watch the kids or just enjoy some me time… with ice cream :)

  3. It can be pretty tricky with little ones. However, you can maximize your time. I used to work on some creative time after my kids went to bed in the evening , or before they woke up. Other times we would have creative time together during the day.

    1. I love the idea of having creative time together with the little ones! My munchkin is a big ball of energy so arts and crafts time looks a little like unspooling ribbon and running it around the room. You’ve gotta love kids!
